Kate + Matt | Married!
Kate + Matt | Married! It feels like we have known Kate and Matt for quite a while now. Nelli and I photographed Kate’s sister’s wedding on our Anniversary a few years ago. Shortly afterward, Kate booked us for her wedding. When we photographed Kate’s engagement session, we were simultaneously filming a promo shoot for a new website. It was a great time with them and they were naturally very easy to photograph. Toward the end of our session we had a few remarkable things happen; the rain started pouring down pretty hard while we were on the beach. It was one of the few times in which we have had the strobes firing in the rain and I was a little nervous about the combo of storm and electricity. However, right before the rain hit, we saw these beautiful streams of light beaming from the clouds and were able to capture it. We parted ways drenched, but happy. This past weekend we arrived at Kate’s house with similar conditions, with a rain falling and more coming. Sometimes this really concerns us. Having photographed weddings for nine years now, we’ve seen rain dampen the mood of some beautiful people. I wasn’t too concerned on this day. I knew Kate and Matt were going to make the best of it. I knew they understood that love, joy and the experience they were about to embrace would supersede the weather no matter what. That’s the type of people they are. We photographed Kate at her house while it rained. We then departed to the church for the ceremony, during which it rained. But something I’ve seen a few times inexplicably in the past few years happened. By the time they ran through the bubbles, the rain had left and it was beautiful outside. I captured a few pictures of the sun and sky to show you the passing of the clouds. We had a few sprinkles afterward, but mostly just warm sun and even a few of those angelic light rays joined us once again at the beach. Kate and Matt had the wedding of their dreams by all accounts.
