TWEENS – the last stage of childhood

TWEEN model call

As I flip through the pages of my mother’s photo album, those plastic pages with photos slipped in between, I can hardly do anything but grimace. My permed hair that was cut into a mushroom and the glasses that swallowed my face.  I remember all too well the feeling of trying to fit in and to feel like I was pretty.  It suddenly mattered what I looked like to others.  My mother loved taking photos of me and my siblings, but was by no means a pro.  I flip through a few more pages and remember how painfully awkward it felt.

Which brings me to my children.  My oldest daughter is 19.  I started my professional photography career when she was just toddling around and she became my most popular subject.  She grew, went through adolescence and I photographed her.  I wanted her to feel beautiful and I wanted to show this social media world and her far away relatives, the beautiful girl that I saw everyday.  As she grew older and went through high school, every so often she would ask me to photograph her.  She told me the photos made her feel good about herself.

I realized that through the gift of photography I could make my daughter see herself as I see her and as God sees her…  beautiful.

I want to offer this same gift to your daughter as well.  As a mother, we want to give our daughters confidence as they enter womanhood.  To be comfortable in the skin God gave them, to show them and the world how beautiful they truly are.  We can do this through the power of photography.

It is my desire to photograph those preteen years (age 10-12) as portrayed by those that love them best. The goal is to help tweens look and feel beautiful and have unshakable confidence in themselves when they hit junior high.

In comes the “Who I am.” project
We are starting the “Who I am” photography project to capture that last season of childhood while enriching the lives of pre-teens. The main goal is to make pre-teens look and feel beautiful and be confident in who they are.

Who we’re looking for
We are looking for female models for our photography project, ages 10-12. We will ask the model and their parents a few questions, then combine the text and photographs to create one impactful piece of art.

Participating tweens receive a FREE portrait session + so much MORE!

Why “Who I am”?
We want to capture the personality of these tweens and record the last stage of their childhood before they become young adults. We want them to realize their true beauty so that they are confident in themselves before they hit Junior High. Imagine the impact a single beautiful image can do for your tweens self-image.

This transitional time in life is so fleeting.  Before you know it, they start wanting to hang out with their friends more than you, they want to wear makeup, get their driver’s license and maybe even date!  Believe me, I saw it happen right before my eyes, my cute little freckled face daughter is now a young woman at the University!
