The Barn at the Ranch Club | Stylized Wedding

This post is a big collaboration we have been working on for a while.  We thought it would be awesome to treat the wedding career students to a really nice stylized shoot at one of our favorite venues – The Ranch Club. It gradually grew into a bohemian inspired stylized shoot featuring 7 models, 16 photography students and an all-star collection of wedding day creative professionals. So before we treat your eyes to the final product, I want to give some serious shout-outs to everyone who made it happen.

Sarah and Jeanne and the whole team from RMSP – for supporting the idea to the fullest and helping us figure out all the logistics, and flow, and models and everything else…to turn this into an awesome educational experience.  Thank you!

Stephanie from Vintage 44 – for always being up to help make beautiful settings for weddings. Vintage44 is the go to resource for amazing vintage furniture and decor and meeting you has been like finding a treasure chest for our style and musings – especially for Nelli:).

Melissa from Earth Within – The beautiful flowers you see in these next photos, that’s Melissa.  Thank you for all the creative time you put into this.  We love how Melissa takes inspiration from all around Missoula to create beautiful bouquets.  And the olive branches!

Dani and Whitney from Cakes in the Zoo for the amazing naked cake adorned with figs and olive branches.  It looked exceptional, but it tasted even better:)

Mandy from Olive + Iron for the beautiful shoes and accessories.

Lauren from Velvet Bride for providing us with the awesome bridesmaid dresses.

Dana from Shear Art Salon for helping our models hair and make-up look stunning.

Our Models – Ashley, Andy, Max, Makayla, Alex, Grace and Alicia  – You were a big part of making this evening successful, and you made it fun for everyone!

As I write, this I’m filled with gratitude for being able to work with this team of creative entrepreneurs in the Missoula community.  In over a decade of photography, we’ve never done anything like this and it would not have been possible without you all.

So…Here are the images Nelli and I captured of the event…

Wait…first, Nelli, your multi-faceted creativity was in full display with the overall styling and especially with creating and sewing the wedding gowns.  And your pictures are pretty decent too;)  Mad props from hubby to wife 🙂

Rocky Mountain School of Photography Wedding Photography Career Training – and the beginning of our stylized wedding shoot

Last week I was blessed to be the instructor for the wedding career training intensive class at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography.  It went super well, and on Tuesday I took a few photos.  These were all from Council Groves, where I was demonstrating to the 16 students some of our interaction and ice-breaker techniques with couples.  The goal for this shoot was to learn how to make our couple feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera.  As a photographer, capturing the real, genuine emotion and depth of a relationship is important.  This was the only day I did any significant shooting myself, and I wanted to share the images because I really like how they turned out.  We were able to work with our new friends, Ashley and Andy (as models), and they were fantastic.

And Nelli made the wedding dress!  The flowers were designed by Earth Within Floral.

This was big week for me personally.  Any of you who read this blog regularly or have known me personally, know that photographing couples has been my livelihood for over a decade.  I still really enjoy it, but when we moved to Montana I knew I wanted to transition some of my effort toward teaching.  Working with other photographers and helping them build their careers is probably the most fulfilling endeavor for me these days.  I’m really grateful for this group I was able to work with.

Neha and Max | Married!

Nelli and I were able to photograph an amazing wedding styled by one of our all-time favorite wedding planners.  I knew from my very first meetings with Max and Neha that this wedding was going to be amazing.  They had picked out three of my favorite venues for the festivities.  This is day three of a three day event.  I hope to show you some of those soon.  But for now, take a peak at the wonderful day we spent with Max, Neha and their families at the Westin, Botanical Gardens, Cultural Gardens and the Public Auditorium.

Congrats Neha and Max! We had such a great time with you and your families and Vanderbilt friends. I hope this preview brings back a lot of great memories. Many more are coming soon:)

Matt & Cassie | Married at High Meadow Mountain Ranch

We were honored to photograph the wedding of Matt and Cassie at High Meadow Ranch. This mountain wedding was the ultimate setting for a family wedding getaway. Rain nearly forced a move of the ceremony, but it passed over the mountain ranges just in time to give us a truly serene and beautiful afternoon and evening.  Autumn (Events by Autumn) did an amazing job with the styling and decorations.  Matt and Cassie were blessed with an abundance of beautiful sunlight, rainbows, and love from friends and family who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  I hope you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed capturing them.

Congrats Matt and Cassie!

Many more photos are coming soon:)

Ben & Sarah | Married in Montana

missoula wedding photography

Ben and Sarah were joined by their closest family and friends at Teller Wildlife Refuge. It was a joyful celebration. The weather forecast was questionable all week, but this outdoor ceremony was going to happen. If anything, the rain brought an extra element of adventure to one of the most adventurous couples we’ve been able to work with. Shortly after the ceremony was scheduled to start, the skies cleared and we were able to enjoy perfect temperature and light for the rest of the day. Here are a few of the photos to commemorate the big day…

Congrats Ben and Sarah! We’ve enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to showing you more photos soon:)
